How Long Does It Take To Collect the Visa on Arrival at Vietnam Airport?

Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in Southeast Asia today. According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sport & Tourism, there were 15.5 million international tourist arrivals in the country in 2018, which is an increase of 2.7 million from 2017. That’s not really surprising to know. With its rich culture and history, delicious food, and beautiful beaches, Vietnam is definitely the perfect destination for a relaxing vacation.

But because of the increasing number of tourists that visit Vietnam lately, the country’s main airports have become very busy as well. For instance, in Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the airport has received more than 6 million passengers in 2017. If you need to apply for a visa on arrival for your upcoming trip to Vietnam, this is something that you need to consider.

The queue for the visa on arrival application at the airports of Vietnam would vary depending on the number of arrivals. This will also depend on the time of your arrival because there is a certain time of the day where plenty of flights will be arriving.

Understandably, most airports are busy during the peak season. So here’s everything you need to know on how long you will be waiting at the visa counter when flying at the major airports of Vietnam.

Cat Bi Airport – Hai Phong City

Of all the international airports in Vietnam, it is the Cat Bi Airport that is the smallest. Thus, it’s less busy as well. Tips to Keep In Mind

Take note that all the airports in Vietnam tend to get busy during the holidays. The most significant holiday in the country is the Lunar New Year. So if you’re traveling during this season, you can expect to queue longer at the airport.

To avoid further delays in the processing of your visa, have all your documents ready on hand. Request for a Visa Approval Letter ahead of time and make sure you print this document and present it at the immigration along with your passport. Have some cash ready since you will be paying for the stamping fee. If possible, carry the exact amount to avoid further delays at the counter.

If you’re traveling with kids and seniors, you can be given a priority. Simply approach any of the immigration officers and you will be given a priority service in the processing of your Vietnam Visa on Arrival.
